STENOGRAPH

Inline Monitoring of the Density Profile with the Density Analyser

GreCon STENOGRAPH

For MDF, particleboard and OSB boards, the raw density has a decisive influence on the panel quality. The specification of the profile conforms to the application of the finished product.

The StenOgraph measures continuously and at high-resolution the raw density of wood-based panels within the production process. The online panel scanner is positioned directly after the continuous presses. The features of the wood-based panel are directly monitored and controlled. The StenOgraph optimises the production process as well as the product features and allows easy product changes. This results in clear savings of material and costs.

Your Benefit

Reduction of material consumption (wood and glue) by optimising the raw density profile

Faster achievement of customer requirements upon product change

Optimum adaptation of the production process to the panel type thanks to permanent display
of the characteristics of the raw density profile

Reduction of the run-in times when commissioning new production lines

Measuring Principle

GreCon STENOGRAPH

The StenOgraph is a non-contact system. A narrowly focused x-ray beam penetrates the moving continuous panel at an angle of 45° and is measured at 2 positions. A stationary detector measures the transmitted radiation and a moving detector measures the scattered radiation. The density-dependent value is such that in any part of the panel cross section a thickness value can be calculated.

Calibration

In order to keep the quality of the measuring results constant, the StenOgraph is equipped with a calibration. During this procedure, the measured profile is compared with a reference profile.

Safety

GreCon measuring systems are constructed according to the generally acknowledged rules of technology and are thus safe to operate. All flexible parts of the StenOgraph are covered by a protective cover. The protective measures of the x-ray beam exceed those which are demanded by legislation.
