New Light Polyp Improves Spark Detection in Big Drop Chutes
Optical fibres do not miss a spark in the material flow
The production capacities in the wood based panel industry, which have strongly increased in the past years, have clearly increased the demands on the detection performance of preventive fire protection accordingly. GreCon now supplies an intelligent and extremely reliable solution for such challenging customer demands. Optical fibres, that are installed directly in the material flow, contribute to an increase in detection reliability by decisively improving the optical detection of ignition energy. The dimensions of conveying systems in the wood based panel industry are getting larger and larger. Looking at it concerning safety regulations, it therefore becomes more and more difficult to monitor the resulting enormous material quantities reliably to detect a transportation of ignition energy in time to take preventive protection measures. GreCon developed a new detector type, which offers additional safety in the area of preventive fire and explosion protection for production plants.
Additional Safety for Drop Chutes
Especially in drop chutes with dense material flows, the detection with infrared sensors, installed on the chute wall, becomes more and more difficult. The optical dimming of the light emitted by the ignition source (sparks or glowing particles) from source to sensor optic substantially reduces the detection reliability. The linear light polyp LLQ is now installed directly in the material flow and therefore offers a high degree of additional safety. Due to the protected arrangement of a large number of optical fibres directly in the material flow, the detection reliability is clearly optimised by changing the geometric proportions. This way, the entire safety concept for modern production plants, using spark detection technology that has been tried and tested for years, is effectively revalued. Of course, the new and patented linear light polyp LLQ can be retrofitted in existing installations to further improve the existing safety standards. Retrofitting is easily possible in connection with all GreCon control consoles.
